We chose the dead sea visit instead, but by talking to others that chose Petra, there is a fair bit of walking involved, and slightly uneven and gradient slopes, but a partially blind lady and her friend who were late 60's seem to manage it ok! When you're actually on the cruise you can ask these sorts of questions when booking it, or find out more at reception. Hope this helps!
It is a very long steep walk to Petra and back but, my wife and I are both in our 70's and did it. Just go at your own speed. Rest when you need. There are horse and traps available but, if you have back problems, should be avoided due to the considerable vibration.
It is a lot of walking, I wouldn`t reccomend it at all for anyone with walking difficuties.. the horse & carriage doesn`t go all the way & one couple were left stranded when we went in january.
It is a fair walk but you can go at your on pace and there are plenty of horse drawn carriages to go around. I would say if you could manage it go because it was one of the best things I've ever seen and the pyramids and sphinx is a must as well.
