The room service is very limited, and the meals in the restaurant is not much better. My advice would be to eat a la carte (at a cover charge) and the Italian evenings. Hope you enjoy the Artemis more than we did.
Yes, the Conservatory is converted to a Grill (extra charge) and an Italian (or other theme stated in the daily paper) at night, no supplement, but the dress code for the day must be observed. I used room service for breakfast only on one day and it was efficient. My advice should you use the Conservatory for breakfast (and they have a splendid range of food) is not to go too early. Let them warm up the leftovers from the previous day and let other people eat them. Your stomach will thank you for it. If going ashore early, use the restaurant.
There is a selection of hot 'main course' items that are available free on the Artemis room service menu and there are also other items that are available at a small suppliment. There are also starter dishes, desserts and snacks available. Examples ofof the differences between free andcharged items can be - Spaghetti Bolognaise is fre, Salmon dish is charged. Chicken sandwich is free, prawn sandwich is charged.
Yes, the conservatory does convert some of its available tables into a grill and italian restaurant at night but, you can still have self serve buffet sttyle food in the other area of the restaurant.
I hope this informations is helpful.
The Artemis is a simply splendid little ship - was up the Amazon on her for 5 weeks last year - she has everything to offer on Room Service - I often stayed in for a meal on the balcony - it was fabulous. Enjoy your cruise. Yes the coservatory is Fine dining and the pietza pasta joint - Babett.
Hi John The Conservatory is split into two in the evening. One side is Italian so there are several choices of pasta/pizza, a salad bar and a couple of desserts. It is quiet with soft background music and candles on the tables. One night of the cruise they serve an Indian buffet - this is very popular and you need to ask your dining room waiter to reserve seats for you. The other side is The Grill and has a cover charge around £7.50 per person. There are three alternating menus with the emphasis on meat. Can personally recommend the fillet steak. Because of the size it is quite intimate and worth making a reservation at least once on your cruise. The waiters are attentive and you can linger as long as you like between courses.
Room service is available until midnight. We used it twice and the food was served by our cabin steward. We had baguettes and salad after returning late from a morning tour and one evening after a full day ashore. There was a choice of steak/chicken or salmon with the veg of the day. It was ideal as we were too tired to make the effort to go to the dining room :-) The food arrived in about twenty minutes and the main course was piping hot.
Hope this helps. Have a great time.
I was on the Artemis last year to the USA and they did convert the grill to an Italian restaurant in the evening. As to meals in the cabin, I think they are the same as the dining room sent up as a tray service. The only problem is where to eat it, there is not much room in the cabins where to put a meal. The crew are very helpful so they may be able to put a small table in the cabin. CDC peacehave.
We have just returned from a cruise on the Artemis, we found no problem with the Room Service. Yes the range of hot meals is reasonably limited, but is another option is you want to give the restaurant a miss.
Yes one the port side of the Conservatory becomes a Grill in the evening for which there is a cover charge of £7 per person, but the food is excellant.
The starboard side becomes an Italian or a Theme restaurant for the evening. There is no charge for this and the food is again very good.
You have to book for either side of the Conservatory.
Enjoy you cruise, the Artemis is a great friendly ship
