Thank you all for the suggestions! Our Daughter spoke to P@O today and they will accept the credit card they have managed to aquire(Albeit at extortionate rates) Then once they have regisrated this they can as always pay by travellers cheques! No cash though! Thanks once again.

We regularly cruise with daughter and son-in-law who don't have a credit card. We put their on board account on our card and they credit our bank account with the cash. Hope this helps.

I can unerstand P&Os policy for credit cards. Despite the fact they have to pay a commission to the Credit Card company, it makes their accounting easier, quicker and by definition, less staff friendly. It also avoids problems and hold-ups on disembarkation. You only have to listen to the number of broadcasts on disembarkation day requestion passengers to report to the Purser at Reception to get an idea of what is happening. The great advantage with P&O is that they bill in stirling. Many Credit Cards now operate 'cashback' and just imagine that your daughter and family could, if they used such a card (Egg, Asda, Morgan Stanley) receive a cashback of 1% on their onboard bill, plus they could have left their cash in a savings account earning money. I'm afraid it is the way ahea.

Hello My first suggestion is to contact P & O on 0845 678 00 14, you could even ask them to ring you back, and talk to them about it. If they can't come up with a suitable alternative they should be able to cancel and get their money back because this is a major change in their contract conditions and then I suggest that they look at other cruise lines, P & O get a lot of repeat business because their passengers believe that they can’t be beaten but believe you me they are often well and truly beaten in many areas. They may find it helpful to talk to the cruise agents, like this one with a free-phone number and honestly tell them what they would like and where they might best find it. Most cruise agents are extremely knowledgeable and should be able to give good information.....I hope this is helpful, Heathe.

Why not take out a nil interest card through there bank or building society pay it off when you get back and cancel the card, or find a low interest rate one and just use it for cruises.

If they dont have a credit card there is way of getting one at no charge..its a prepay credit card therfor no credit checks..you transfer your money onto the card and that way your card is in credit and you dont have to worry about taking money around with you, there is a small monthly charge to use it,but you get all the benefits of visa or mastercar.
