Find Your Cruise
We've just return from the New Year Arcadia Panama cruise. P&O used 1st Choice, Thomson and Thomas Cook. Going out the 1st choice from Man and Gat were delayed about 7 hrs each with 4 hr layover in Florida before arriving in Acapulco. Going home form Barbados Thomas Cook had delays with the Man flight canceled. The general opinion of passengers was the the charter flights are the weak link in the cruise. We upgraded on 1st Choice to premium but I don't think the £600 addition was value for money, my wife still got swollen legs. The rest of the cruise was fine though. Panama canal was a real treat with the commentary given by Gary in the crows nest excellent. Service was excellent! Gerry King security officer was excellent, helpful and refreshingly individual in these days of corporate blandness. Belvedere restaurant was like a bun fight getting a table.Cruise is recommended but expect to endure rather then enjoy the flights!
The good news free drinks and food. The bad not mutch leg room on the way out and even less on the way back. The air was not good either my wife fainted and spent the night in the Galley. The ship is however wonderful.Rod Mar.
We returned from the Caribbean in December with Thompson and were very impressed. Service excellent and plently of leg room. We always as for opposite aisle seats and then there is even more room. I hope your flight is as good as ours.
Thompson have bought some new planes more leg room with tv and video games on the back of seats we flew in december and it was one of the best flights we have been on so fingers crossed that you have the same on.
Fingers crossed you get one of the new aircraft. Our experience of P&O fly-cruises is that the flight is always the weakest link and the worst part of the holiday. Flights are cramped and often delayed. Also little or no support at the airport from P&O - once they drop you at the airport you are at the mercy of the airline. Having said all that we still do fly-cruises, so I think it is just a case of grin and bear it....the cruise makes up for it.
If Thomson (Britannia) have some new planes it is about time. Last time I did a fly cruise (and the LAST time) I paid for extra leg room but the seat was jammed in the upright position and the flight was full. Grossly uncomfortable for 11 hours inc a stop in Ireland to refuel because of head winds. No sympathy from crew or Britannia in UK - got a begrudged refund of my extra leg room price and that was it. If the ship doesn't start from So'ton, I don't bother now.
U dont see your bags after check in at the airport till you get on the cruise, just to identify them at the airport.
Xtra leg room seats are not worth the xtra money unless you ar 6ft plus.All your food and alchol is free, and the service is excellent. All the flights I have been on to Barbados and USA to connect with p and o cruises have been non-stop flight.
We went to the Caribbean last year on the Oceana, which was wonmderful, but it was ruined by the flights out and back with Thomas Cook. No leg room at all and really uncomfortable seats. Having said that though food and drinks were free and the service great. The checking-in arrangements both outbound and inbound were very efficient. Once our cases were checked in at Gatwick we didn't see them again until we were on board ship. We didn't have to go through Barbados airport on the outward journey as the coach to the ship was practically at the bottom of the aircraft steps. Amazing.
