Not sure if you will be stopping there but last year we visited florence, pisa and Rome...we really enjoyed florence, pisa was a little disappointing and Rome was wonderful. We tiik our 3 young children and Nanna and they all enjoyed. Sardinia was beautiful I would highly recommend there and Cannes. Gibralter was very interesting aswell...duty free. Alicante was awful!! If I only had one to choose it would be Sardinia...enjoy your trip. Also take plenty of sea legs tablets for the bay of biscay!
Onlygot 2008 brochure. Booked on Artemis March 2008 and would appreciate any comment - favourable I hop.
You don't say where you're stopping, but if you stop in Naples, the tour of Pompeii is a must. It is truly fascinating.
If you are calling at Tripoli, Libya I can recommend the trip to Sabratha. We just did the half day which was long enough as it is quite tiring walking round the ruins. It's not steep but is uneven. Beautiful setting and really interesting. Drive to it is good too as you see lots of interesting sights.
A lot of people did the full day tour to Leptis Magna, but that is a long and tiring day esp. if very hot day. So I would only do that option if you are "really in to" archeologocial sites.
In the afternoon, we took the shuttle bus into Tripoli and found it felt very safe. My Mum and I walked round without harrassment...although we hardly saw another woman.
In La Goulette (port for Tunis) we felt very harrassed and not safe as 2 women walking round.
Have a great cruise!
Are you going to the Eastern Med? In which case the Acropolis in Athens, anywhere in Istanbul and the ruins of Ephesus are unmissable.
Barcelona? Just wander down Las Ramblas - but watch your possessions!
If you're stopping at Livorno, Florence is great but Pisa is not worth bothering with.
Naples must mean a trip to Pompeii, or try Capri if you've seen Pompeii.
Enjoy your cruise.
Suggest you go to the Port lectures during the first day or so, which are recorded to you cabin TV also. With P&O, they are so good, you will quickly make up your mind which is 'your cup of tea' Have a good trip... P&O are the best.
