Unfortunately at Christmas most cruise lines attract children, unless you go on a totally child free line. Also the Canaries are more appealing to children than the Arctic so I do not think you will escape.

I know Fred Olsen are trying to encourage more families on board their ships by providing extra trained staff to look after children on certain cruises in the school holidays. If you're travelling on Cruise BL030 it's showing the child-friendly symbol in the brochure. I've travelled many times on Fred cruises, but as I avoid the school holidays, I've only seen pre-school age children on board. A colleague has been on Braemar three times with her two teenage children and they've always had a wonderful time.
