I have never heard of a Voucher being converted to cash, hopefully someone else might have but I have known many cases when, after polite negotiation, the Voucher expiry date has been extended to a much longer period. It does not seem right, to me, that having offered you compensation such a short time-span should be placed on it and the fact that they have offered it stands you in good stead. Have you talked with Fred Olsen? If all else fails I have known of about turns by companies when they have had the substance of the complaint sent to the B.B.C.'s "Watchdog" but before you take this drastic step try talking to them. I hope you get what you want....Nei.
Fred olsen are usually quite good about these issues and no one wants bad publicity so give them a call and see what you can do. There new cruises for 2009 come out early part of the year so perhaps if they let you extend to 2009 that you could book something early when they come out to show that you are going and then make use of the voucher. Never heard of anyone getting cash for their voucher but we have have never had to have the unfortunate instance of anything happen on the cruises that we have been on. goodluc.
To all cruisers who are worried by the Novovirus out breaks on ships or even hotels, as regular cruisers we always take a Detol Surface spray with us and first thing on occupying our cabin I spray all touching surfaces.
Before retiring I also spray the air conditioning input duct, so far no problems!
Could the voucher be transferable and the person re-imberse you.
