Anderson - Answered a Question by Betty (14 Jun 08 15:44)

Hi Betty,We have just returned from a westbound crossing. We arrived at the terminal at 11:30am and joined a rapid moving queue to be processed & then ushered into a large seated Area for approx.45mins before being called to board. This was our first time cruising and were anxious to see what the ship was like so we had plenty of time to unpack & explore before "sailaway" & 1st. dinner sitting at 6;00p.m.Threequarters of the staterooms (cabins) have balconies & as far as i am aware does not influence boarding. Hope this helps & you enjoy the voyage as much as we did!

I have travelled on the QM2 twice, and both times I have arrived at the terminal after 3:00, and didn't have to queue or wait anywhere. It does mean that when you get on board you are too late for lunch, but that's not a problem for me. I'd rather not queue than worry about fitting in one more meal.

Eyre - Answered a Question by Betty (05 Jun 08 12:37)

Hi Betty. I think Mr/Mrs Weston has answered the question perfectly : You need to decide on the day whether or not you are hungry! Honestly! On my first Transatlantic Cruise, I arrived at the terminal at the time specified in my tickets (which was 3pm). The terminal was a "ghost-town". I breezed straight through security, straight through check-in and straight onto the ship! Very, very quick - because everyone else had already gone through. If however, you want a bit of time to explore the ship, perhaps have a drink and a bite to eat you are best to be there as early as possible (I have arrived at Noon before). As Mr/Mrs Weston have said, this will mean that you will queue at security, queue at check-in and queue to get on the ship .... but no more so than if you were going to the airport. Have a great trip.
