You can opt out for sure - on the second day of your cruise go to the purser office and you just have to sign that you do not wish to pay the cunard grauities - we will pay these ourselves - no problem - john robinson leiceste.
Yes you can, but you need to visit the pursers desk on board as soon as you can in order to do this.Have a great holiday.
Yes you can and I believe it states this somewhere in the Cunard brochure in the paragraph that talks about tipping.
Yes you can and you may tip who you wan.
Yes you can, although the automatic charge is convenient and also there are others who have contributed to the service you receive with whom you may not have come into contact and so they get a share too. We have given a little extra to our specific waiting and room steward as well in the past.
Hi Mr/Mrs Young. I think your question has been answered by the other reviewers. Yours is a popular question, however other than the "...yes, you can and here's how to do it...." answer, I never see an explanation as to why the gratuities are put on your bill in the first place - so here it is :
The first point to make is that people who work on a cruise ship have a very low basic wage and therefore rely on tips - the benefit to the traveller is that the staff are motivated to provide good service.
The second point (which the conspiracy theorists love to believe) is that Cunard do not put gratuities on your account automatically so that they can keep a cut of it for themselves and not bother with the people whom it is supposed to go to!
So, the main point for me is that other than your cabin steward & and your table staff in your restaurant there are many, many other people whom you do not see that make your trip a pleasant one - laundry workers, maintenance crews, cleaning staff etc., etc., These are the people who do not get any tips if you deduct them from your bill and simply pay the people that you see.
In summary (and this is only my opinion) if you remove the gratuities from your bill, there will be many, many people who have worked extremely hard on your behalf who will go unrewarded for their work.
Have a fantastic voyage.
Yes see the pursers's offic.
Yes just go to the Pursers office and they will soft it out.
Yes, there is no problem opting out of the official Cunard gratuities scheme. When you get on board all you have to do is go to the Pursers office and tell them you want to give gratuities directly to your cabin cleaner, waiters, etc., and they will record this on their system and not include this charge on your bill at the end of the cruise.
Yes you must go to the pursers office when you board.
but did you know that the cabin staff do not get paid a wage there wages come from tips or the (gratuities.
