Yes.Cruised with an american couple two weeks ago that found the ship and cruise to be that bad and more.I would cancell as our friends have already done and book with RCCL.
I can only say that I have recently returned from a weeks cruise on the Costa Serena, and found it to be absolutly wonderful. Staff were exceptional, Food magnificant, entertainment excellent, and would definately book again with Cost.
We are also booked on the costa Allegra far east cruise in November but didn't read comments from Johnson of Staffs. !! What was wrong with it you have me worried now???
HI, also going on same cruise in October this year and was about to ask the same question. Did not read Johnson of Staffs comments - however would be very intersted to know re formal nights and general dress - my opinion is smart casual plus formal is 'formal' part of our holiday is dressing and if others do not bother that is there fault and not mine. However we do have a weight restricition on flight - husband Ian will be very restricted oooppps!! Sorry but for me dressing at night is part of my cruise wherever I am in the world! Would be interested in knowing other people's view re Allegra and dressing. Jacki Chapman, Torqua.
Gurney of Oxford - if you cannot spell cancel correct I wonder if we should really take 'on board' your second hand re Costa Allegra - can you be more precise? What was the main complaint/.s?? Would really be interested in your comments.
I have had many cruises and an awful lot of them with Costa and they were great including 5 weeks sailing this winter from Singapore to Italy they were great I think a lot depends on wether you need to be amongst English speaking passengers sometimes you may be the only often you will be in the minority but overall I think they have good value for money.A coup`le I sailed with this winter returned home and booked the Allega for next summer I booked a month in the Caribean and a week in Italy all with Costa need I say more.
We decided last winter to try RCI once again and we still preffered Costa its all down to preferenc.
We have sailed twice with Costa and have enjoyed both experiences. Dress code is as formal as you want to make it. The quality of the food is good, and the staff, very cosmopolitan, are invariably friedly and polite. Stop worrying;you'll enjoy your cruise.
We have been on the Costa Victoria this summer and the dress code for the formal evenings was dressy. Ladies in evening dress, sparkly etc., gents some in dinner suits and smart jackets and trousers. You could dress down in nice evening wear but on the special occasion evenings, captains dinner etc., dressing up was the theme. We enjoyed the cruise, staff very pleasant and helpful, you will enjoy it, but it will be mainly european passengers.
We have been on 5 Costa cruises in 3 years and just booked for the Costa Serena in Nov. Both my wife and I love the formal nights wearing a tux or white dinner jacket.
The people are great, the food is great and love the new ships.
