Find Your Cruise
Re morning and Noon ...you are correct. Re evening ...you will not be able to wear shorts or T shirts in the main dining room, sports shirts and slacks will be ok for Casual Dress nights and if you want to stay in your casual attire on the other nights you will, provided that you notify them, be able to use the Island Cafe on the upper deck. With regard to gratuities I would suggest that unless you are very dissatisfied with the service you receive that you allow the recommended amounts to be added to your ship-board account. A note will be sent to your cabin saying that unless you let them know this deduction will take place about half way through your cruise. I am almost certain that there will be differing views on this but the people to whom these tips are paid rely to a large degree on them to make up their remuneration. Hope this helps Neil Dow.
Taken from FAQ on Celebrity's site:
It is customary to offer gratuities to staff members you feel have given you exceptional service and personal attention. Celebrity suggests the following guidelines for all guests:
Waiter: $3.50 p/day
Assistant Waiter: $2.00 p/day
Assistant Maitre'd: $0.75 p/day
Stateroom Service: $3.50 p/day
Assistant Chief Housekeeper: .75 p/day
Works out at $10.50pp pd which is just over a fiver - hardly bank breaking I think you would agree
To Aldrich and Fallan down. re Celebrity
many thanks for your replies
Re tipping on Celebrity- when we went on Mercury this August, we pre paid our tipping on our final bill when we paid cruise co. We found this better as our ship board account only had items we purchased on board, we also pre paid all our excursions, all in £ sterling.
