VERY old mostly US pax but good foo.
We did a 12 day trip in the Caribbean in March and the ship was in great shape then. The meals were as good as ever and they had introduced a new idea of a set of option for starters/main courses so if you didn't fancy what was on the menu that night you could pick one of the options and they were there every night. We might be described as difficult to please and we never had once to choose something from this other menu except me and that was because I loved their prawn dish and had it most nights, but that was my choice.
The deoor; accommodation; other facilties all up to the usual Celebrity standard. So not sure where you have heard the ship is in a bad way. I am sure you will enjoy every minute we did and the staff were as great as ever.
Celebrity is a 5* cruise line. Her ships ar not run down and they would not be listed as the Top 5 Cruise Ships in the world by Conde Naste if they were!! Suggest you read current reviews by recent travellers over on cruise critic for the honest truth.
I'm afraid that my opinion differs from the others as we were very disappointed with Galaxy when we went on it the year before last. We complained when we got home as we had stains on the furniture in our cabin and the carpet, also the theatre had seats that were falling apart. Definatly run down. We love Celebrity normally and have booked for Millenium next year already, food is always good. Also we like meeting with the Americans on board.
Hi Galaxy was in good shape August this year. Yes a refit is due but is still in good shape. We had 4 inside cabins & other than some age staining in the sink, were in no way shabby or run down. Never saw any seats falling apart in the theatre, the only signs of age tended to be around the deck areas but in no way detracted from the overall cruise experience. This was my 54th cruise so I've seen plenty of differing standards over the years & when you compare Galaxy's high standard of service & food against the odd stain here & there, I for one would have no hesitation in re booking.
