Thomson Destiny is a fab ship I have been on 3 times twice this year already and have booked to go again for xmas, good luck you wont be disappointe.
Royal caribbean ships are fantastic, also ocean village which is good on the pocket too and very relaxin.
Highly recommend ocoean village.
Thomson cruises have fly-cruises available on board the Destiny for 7 nights. However if you are looking for a better grade cruise line, Royal Caribbean have sailings from Southampton doing a 10 night canaries cruise, and there are some mega deals on this at the moment.
Like you I live in Scotland and know what it's like to have to travel all the way to Southampton. I recommend Thomson because they can fly you from Glasgow or Edinburgh out to the Canaries in 4 hours. Iff you choose a ship from Southhampton you have the long journey to Southampton (there is a flight to Southampton but very expensive), you are also 2 days at sea before you get ashore, and The Bay of Biscay can be very rough. I know, I've done it and wouldn't do it again. Good luck and have a nice cruise no matter which ship you choose.
Navigator of the Seas sails out of Southampto.
P & O Oceana sales 14th October from Southampton.Fabulous ship - have been aboard her twice before and had wonderful holidays.
We did a Canaries cruise aboard the QE2 and had a great time. I would say however that the ship is not the most modern in fact, it is old and tired but nevertheless has great character and is spotless. I felt that the entertainment etc. was aimed towards the older generation but despite this we had a great time. I have not done any others around the Canaries but hope this helps with respect to the QE2. Duffy, Kelt.
I am going on the Navigator of the Seas on the 16 October around the Canary Island.
