Thanks very much for your helpful info. If there is a free shuttle in Belfast this is very valuable to know and we shall take that and then perhaps a cab via Stormont back to ship Thanks very muc.

First of all, FORGET the train. The line is mainly single track, which affects both the number of trains operated and their reliability. Stagecoach Bluebird operate two services between Invergordon and Inverness. Service 25 operates via the A9 to Ardluille, then via Dingwall, Muir of Ord, Tore and the Kessock Bridge. The service is hourly during the day on Monday to Saturday between Invergordon and Inverness, reducing to every two hours in the evening and on Sundays. In the peak, there are additional journeys, including some via the Cromarty Bridge and one via Culbokie! Service 25X is the limited stop version, straight along the A9 via Ardluille, Tore and the Kessock Bridge. (Indeed, it is non-stop between Tore Interchange and Inverness College). The service is hourly on every day, but there is no evening service. This service takes an hour to Inverness. There is also the infrequent Scottish Citylink/Rapsons Coaches service between Thurso and Inverness which stops at Invergordon. In reality, the journey time is little different to Stagecoach Bluebird service 25X.

Belfast Ship will tie up at Stormont Wharf, northeast of downtown on the Victoria channel. 10-15 minute bus ride to downtown, and the city provides a free shuttle to the Visitor Center near the City Hall. Cab to the nearby City Airport for rental car agencies.

Inverness Ship will actually dock at Invergordon, which is a 30-40 minute bus ride (25X bus, GBP7.40) or train ride to Inverness. Loch Ness is another 30-40 minutes past Inverness. The port is actually a long pier, with a shop at the end.
