Ida and Neil Down - Answered a Question by GODFREY (14 Feb 08 19:16)

You can never be definite about the sea and you have not stated what time of year you are concerned for but the sea can be rough in the English Channel let alone Biscay. I have known it like a mill pond all the way around and into the Med. Let's just say possibly....Nei.

I have sailed on mini cruises around the bay of biscay about 10 times, and been unlucky every time. We have had force 9 sometimes. It caused chaos on the ship and the seasickness!!! stock up on plenty of pills if you are a sufferer. The bay is notoriously rough. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but its only the truth.

The Bay of Biscay is well known for being rough all year round, if you are a delicate sea traveller I strong suggest you get some sickness pills and take them in advanc.

I've done it 3 times and it was only rough once. Get some sea sickness tablets from the chemist before you go to be on the safe side. If you are ill you can get an injection on board that will stop it within about 20 mins so don't worry.

The trouble with sea sickness pills is that they make you really drowsy. I have tried all types and ended up falling asleep all the time. I haven't tried injections yet, but will do next time I go.

Went across Bay of Biscay in August last year and was quite rough. I suggest that you give travel bands a try instead of pills. They work on acupressure points. I swear by them.

We sailed through the Bay of Biscay at the beginning and middle of April last year on Oceana. You could feel a slight swell but other than that it was fine. I used sea bands but took them off after a day as I felt fine.
