Dancing is mainly in the Lido Lounge, the dance floor is not large and is catered for by a pianist or a duo. And, yes, ballroom dancing can be done there but you won't have room for much more than the basic movements although the Rumba and Cha Cha can be more involved because you need less space for these and the same applies to the Jive. Fred Olsen caters mainly for the British and you will therefore get some passengers who are very good at dancing. Americans are less accomplished dancers and therefore the ships which cater mainly for them have less floor space and often bands with no idea of true dance tempos.....As no one else answered you'll have to put up with half an answer from me......Id.
On a recent cruise on Black Watch there was ballroom dancing in the late afternoon and evening to the music of the Black Watch Orchestra in the Neptune Lounge. Also as Mr Down has already said, there is dancing in the Lido Lounge to a pianist or duo. In addition excellent live music was provided by the Steve Love Band who played seventies/eighties music ideal for jiving. Fred Olsen employ male dance hosts for single unaccompanied ladies who enjoy ballroom dancing.
