We went on this cruise with my 14 year old daughter. She loved every minute of it -Cairo Museum had the Tutankamun Mask which everyone knows about (the one in London is a copy). The Wadi Rum tour was good for kids. Take some books and Electronic games if worried. There was always plenty to see from the coaches - plenty of men armed with machine guns walking around, camels etc. They'll sleep going back anyway. The Jordanian Air Force do a Red Arrows type display for you as well in Aqaba.

Hi My husband and I did the red sea cruise in November 07. The trips are very long, averaging 12 hours. The only one I would not recommend for children is the Cairo Museum. Very crowded, like sardines!! Wear comfortable shoes and take plenty of bottled water.

Hi - Red Sea Magic Jan 08. Trips very long but interesting. Didn't go to Petra but people were very cold and tired. Ports not very good - no decent beaches - all private.

We went on the Red Sea cruise three years ago and we had a great time, but you need to be aware of 1 The walk back up from Petra to the hotel at the entrance where you have a meal and meet the coaches is very long and uphill all the way, not really suitable for a 9 year old. The Wadi Rum trip is great fun if you are OK with bouncing around in the back of a (very) old pick up truck. The Cairo trips are very long and the touts at the Pyramids are a pain, everyone on our coach was exuasted by the time we got back to the ship. When we did the Cairo trip there were 24 coaches driving in convoy with armed police vehicles between coaches, the Q to get back on the ship on the return was very long and slow so get off your coach quickly and get to the entrance as fast as you can. Hurgarda airport departures are a nightmare, be prepared for long Q's and have a pen handy for filling in formes..
